POOLED STEEL-TUBE PROCUREMENT

Mill-order economics. Without the mill-sized minimum.

A tube mill wants 40,000 feet — about 18 tons of it. You need 3,800. Tight Steel combines compatible requirements from multiple buyers into one production-sized steel-tube order — each buyer receives the quantity it actually needs.

How it works

Planned purchasing, pooled with other buyers who need exactly the same material.

01

Find or post an exact requirement

Search open pools by size, wall, grade and standard — or post the specification you buy.

02

Commit the quantity you need

Full-bundle quantities, registered before the order cutoff. Interest is non-binding until you approve confirmed pricing and issue a firm PO.

03

We combine compatible demand

Matching requirements are consolidated into one production-sized mill purchase.

04

The mill produces; you receive your allocation

The full run is produced on the mill’s schedule and each buyer receives its committed footage.

“Steel tube” is not a specification.

Pools only work when every attribute matches exactly. Two requirements that differ on any of these are different products — and different pools.

Three ways to buy

Price tiers reflect planning: the more lead time you give the pool, the better the available tier.

POOLMOST COMMON

Commit before the cutoff. Planned lead time on the mill's production schedule. Lowest available price tier.

RESERVE

Commit to recurring releases. Tight Steel holds an agreed program quantity against your schedule.

NOW

Purchase available material for immediate shipment, when it exists, at a higher price tier.

Built for procurement, not impulse

SPEC MATCHINGPools accept only requirements that match the normalized specification exactly. Near-matches go to review, never silently merged.
MTRs & TRACEABILITYMill test reports per heat where applicable. Bundle tags trace your allocation to the production run.
FREIGHTFreight is quoted and disclosed separately from material — never buried in the tube price.
COMMITMENTSExpressing interest is non-binding. You become bound only when you approve confirmed pricing and issue a firm PO — after the consolidated mill order is placed, commitments are non-cancellable.
PRICINGIndicative while a pool forms. Supplier pricing is confirmed, approved by each buyer via firm PO, and only then is the consolidated mill order placed.
A STRAIGHT ANSWER

For emergency quantities, custom processing or highly fragmented purchases, a conventional service center may still be the better source. Tight Steel is for planned buying of standard material.

FOR MILLS

Fill available campaign capacity with normalized specifications and one consolidated purchase order.
